Introduction

Mark’s gospel is a treasure that I have opened many times in my Christian life. In these series of posts, I intend to take a fresh look at the gospel, with a particular emphasis on two things that I have found are missing in most presentations.

  1. How the words of Jesus contained in the gospel were recieved at the time  – it is always important to place a biblical text within its historical context, and Jesus intervened in history in a specific place at a specific time – namely the Jewish people of God under Roman occupation;
  2. Serious, heart-changing application – most presentations either miss this out altogether, or provide too general comments.

These posts are thoughts from my recent devotional times, and I hope they are useful to others.
